Job Purpose
The Finance Coordinator is a hired position that will assist the President in the day-to-day operations of the Fanshawe Student Union (FSU), with a focus on finance and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assume the duties of the President in the event of their absence, including acting as Chair of the Executive Committee;
  • Assume designated signing authority of all financial documents of the FSU;
  • When permitting, attend all College and Student Union Committee meetings, including, but not limited to: College Council, College Student Union, Athletics Committee, and Executive Committee meetings;
  • Negotiate student fees with the College in conjunction with the General Manager and President;
  • Act as a liaison between the FSU and Financial Aid;
  • Manage a financial plan to assist students who are in financial need, including individual consultation;
  • Provide direction for the logistical implementation of financial literacy events
  • Responsible for overseeing and implementing the budget policy and other financial policies
  • Assist both the Student Life and Advocacy & Communications Coordinators with planning and implementing Orientation and other student life events
  • Assist the Student Life Coordinator with the recruitment and coordination of FSU Volunteers;
  • Liaise between FSU and Athletics and implement the Athletics Committee Agreement and ensure the mandate is fulfilled;
  • Coordinate and implement events in conjunction with the Fanshawe intramural and varsity programs;
  • Responsible for selecting FSU Charity of the year and ensuring monthly events are held for fundraising;
  • Complete post-event evaluation reports for respective events;
  • May be assigned additional duties as requested by the President.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • The Finance Coordinator is required to be a full-time student of Fanshawe College as per By-Law No. 1.
  • Financial Literacy, including awareness of student financial assistance options

Time Commitment

 The Finance Coordinator will be remunerated based on the number of hours worked:

  • Average thirty-five (35) hours per week during the period between May 1st and August 31st
  • Average twelve (12) – sixteen (16) hours per week during the period between September 1st and April 30th.
  • Additionally, the Finance Coordinator may be required to work evenings and weekends.
